Nope...not at all.
George McGovern was running for president
Unfortunately George lost to Richard Nixon

From link;
" . In 1632, a group of shipwrecked Englishmen landed upon Saba; they stated they found the island uninhabited when they were rescued. However, there has been some evidence found indicating that Carib or Arawak Indians may have been on the island.

In the 17th and 18th centuries, its major industries were sugar and rum, and later fishing, particularly lobster fishing. In the 17th century, Saba was believed to be a favorable hideout for Jamaican pirates. England also deported its "undesirable" people to live in the Caribbean colonies, and some of them also became pirates, a few taking haven on Saba. The island of Saba is forbidding and steep, a natural fortress, and so the island became a private sanctuary for the families of smugglers and pirates. The most notable native Saban pirate was Hiram Beakes, who famously quipped, "Dead men tell no tales".[citation needed] Later legitimate sailing and trade became important, and many of the island's men took to the sea, during which time Saba lace, pulled thread work, became an important product made by the island's women. During this period of time, with most of the island's men gone out to sea, the island became known as "The Isle of Women".[citation needed]"

Republic Day honours the date on which the Constitution of India came into force on 26 January 1950 replacing the Government of India Act (1935) as the governing document of India.[1]

Both Republic Day and Independence Day are celebrated with huge parades as only partially seen in photo.

GOLD SHOP Bangkok, Thailand

GOLD SHOP
Bangkok, Thailand
1991
All Rights Reserved
Buying "gold" in Bangkok may seem overwhelming because of the large quantity of Gold Shops selling tons of gold, most of which is about 22-23K despite proclamations of 24K (Pure Gold) as there is no such thing.... cheaply produced. Bullion is 999.99% at best while 24K would have to be 100%.

The trick to buying gold is to pick the right gold shop and that is easily done by seeing which shop has the most Thais buying gold within. I.e., in this shop there is only one Western person (right foreground) buying gold, the rest are Thais and there are many. All indicative of an honest shop the locals trust when they store wealth in gold.

Ship rigging can be seen at the main mast of a sailing ship whose hull cannot be seen as it sits in the canal, conveniently close to the tattoo shop. The interesting combination of the parts of this photo is why I call this my favorite tattoo shop even though I sport none myself. One can imagine the scene over 100 + years ago with sailors partying and drinking along the canal's shops and drinking establishments.

"Je suis Charlie" 01 08 2015

"Je suis Charlie"     01 08 2015
http://www.themalaysianinsider.com/malaysia/article/je-suis-charlie

 "Je suis Charlie"
Actually, I am not...otherwise I would post another  photo.
This photo, taken in democratic India is just to illustrate a point driven home by yesterday's murders in Paris. I have another photo which shows exactly the difference in how many Muslim men would use these facilities. That photo taken of the back....has only frontal and side privacy barriers. Nothing graphic..I am just not "Charlie".

In 1991, we learned what can happen to a Westerner in an Islamic country when he does not urinate in the Muslim manner when we spent a night here  http://lens-image.blogspot.com/2014/12/tea-house-foothills-of-himalayans-nepal.html   The walls of the tea house were ...actually they were just boards not very aligned to each other, but separated us, physically, from the Canadians sleeping on the other side. (25 cents a night does not give much luxury...we paid a little more because our trek "guide" was not licensed and was dishonest.) We overheard them talking about a Westerner who in a country like...maybe Afghanistan... had urinated standing up...as illustrated in the photo above showing two legs of the standing man....in Delhi, India. I understand the most faithful feel standing while urinating is an affront to the prophet.

The man they were discussing who was in the Sharia law controlled  country was shot dead for standing up while urinating, according to the conversation we heard on the other side of the bedroom wall....possibly being Western added some motivation for that murder.

One of the problems, in my opinion, is that Westerners have no idea of the difference between "Cultural Diversity" and "Diversity of Cultural Values". The consequences of such misunderstandings can lead to the path on which France has found itself.
When I go to other countries I abide by the cultural customs.
My friend in India, Mr Mushtaq Achmed tells me I am more Indian than he is for I ALWAY take off my shoes and eat with my right hand...even when a host does not require such.
It would be nice if those visiting us respected our values.
