In 1991 this shopping center was presented with the first escalator ever in place in Nepal.
People were not used to this newfangled contraption had great caution (fear) in using it. Meanwhile the two western tourists (us) were enthralled with cows everywhere, unrestrained. I see 4 cows in this photo. Cows are "HOLY" and one can get, then and maybe now, 20 years in jail for killing such cows.

Made me wonder what the butcher shops were selling.
